The main postulates of adaptive correction of distortions of the wave front in large-size optical systems
# 03, March 2014
DOI: 10.7463/0314.0700488
V.V. Sychev
Some conceptual reasons on development and creation of the adaptive optical systems (AOS) in difficult send-receive optical complexes are considered. The main postulates of adaptive correction of distortions of the wave front (WF) in these complexes are for the first time formulated and offered. Discussion of results of pilot studies at the complex stand in natural conditions is carried out. Ways and possibilities of decrease in power losses in transferring optical complexes with use of methods and means of adaptive optics are shown efficiency of use of the offered postulates of adaptive correction in large-size optical systems, and also ways and possibilities of decrease in power losses in transferring optical complexes with use of methods and means of adaptive optics.
Promising methods for quality control test of large convex aspherical mirrors
# 12, December 2013
DOI: 10.7463/1213.0645432
V.I Batshev, E.A. Badunova, O.V. Pol'schikova
Promising methods for quality control test of large convex aspherical mirrors were considered in this article. These methods are based on a new scheme of illuminating the mirror under control by a parallel multiple-beam where the beams are perpendicular to the mirror’s symmetry axis. The main advantage of such methods is that they don't require auxiliary large-size optical elements. A new non-interferometric method for a quality control test of convex aspherical mirrors with high aperture (angle between the optical axis and the marginal normal to the mirror is more than 45 degrees) was developed on the basis of the specified illuminating scheme.
Diffraction nonreciprocity of counterpropagating waves in a ring prismatic resonator with a diffraction photomixer
# 09, September 2013
DOI: 10.7463/0913.0616142
S.I. Nazarov
This article deals with investigation of diffraction nonreciprocity of a ring prismatic resonator; in this case the diffraction nonreciprocity is conditioned by presence of a diffraction photomixer and a sharp edge diaphragm. Dependences of diffraction splitting on the photomixer’s location relative to the resonator’s axis at various sizes of a single-sided diaphragm with a sharp edge were determined by means of solving an integral equation of the ring resonator numerically. The author obtained relation between displacement of the photomixer relative to the resonator’s axis and size of the sharp edge diaphragm when there was no diffraction nonreciprocity. The derived conclusions could be useful for design and modernization of laser gyrometers with resonators formed by total internal reflection prisms.

This article is important because of both wide assortment of road LED luminaires on the Russian market and a large set of their technical parameters and characteristics. New criteria of energy efficiency for road LED luminaires were elaborated and scientifically corroborated. These criteria of energy efficiency of LED luminaires allow one to prevent a wrong choice of a luminaire and to identify the most suitable model. Appropriateness of criteria introduction was confirmed by the example of choosing the most energy-efficient LED luminaires for the selected scheme of road illumination. The introduced criteria allow experts in road and street illumination to choose the most suitable luminaire from all available ones on the LED luminaire market in order to replace the incandescent luminaires for the purpose of energy-saving.
Optical losses in silica based fibers within the temperature range from 300 to 1500 K

In this article optical losses within the temperature range from 300 to 1500 K were investigated in visible and NIR spectral ranges for silica based optical fibers for the first time. It was shown that there is a significant increase in optical losses in the temperature range of 1050 - 1200 º C.  Optical losses reach their maximum at the temperature of 1200 º C at the wavelength of 400 nm; the maximum value for a silica-based optical fiber was approximately 5 dB/m, for a germanosilicate fiber ~ 4 dB / m, for a phosphosilicate fiber ~ 1.5 dB / m and for an aluminosilicate fiber ~ 45 dB / m. By the example of the aluminosilicate fiber it was shown that optical losses in the wavelength range of 380-850 nm could be associated with nano- and microcrystalline inclusions which are formed as a result of fiber annealing.
The problem of determining the recognition threshold of substances in the FTIR
# 04, April 2013
DOI: 10.7463/0413.0548098
A.A. Sologub, I.L. Fufurin
Detection of substances with the use of their infrared spectra is carried out by means of statistical analysis of experimental and reference spectra. This analysis is conducted by calculating the correlation parameter. In this work dependences of correlation parameters of reference and noisy spectra on the signal-to-noise ratio were obtained. Dependence of substance recognition thresholds on the signal-to-noise ratio within the experimental spectra was obtained for the given probability of substance recognition. The authors consider the possibility of applying these dependences to calculation of recognition thresholds in view of the signal-to-noise ratio during the experiment.
Comparative analysis of numerical and algebraic methods of automated calculation of optical systems in the paraxial region
# 03, March 2013
DOI: 10.7463/0313.0548050
A.B. Ostrun, A.V. Ivanov
In this article the authors present an efficiency comparison of numerical and algebraic methods for solving polylinear model equations in order to determine an optimal algorithm of parametric synthesis of a centered optical system in Gaussian optics. The performance analysis was carried out with case studies of varying complexity that illustrate features of both methods. Generation of multilinear equations was produced in a semi-automatic mode while optical powers of components were considered to be unknown. Recommendations on usage of each method for the computer-aided parametric synthesis based on results of comparative analysis are given.

The authors present the results of their study of multilayer optical memory with a two-photon mechanism for recording and collinear heterodyne readout. The choice of materials for multilayer recording with a nonlinear two-photon absorption mechanism is justified. The authors give a description of the experimental setup for multilayer recording in the form of microholograms with relative phase modulation. They present the main characteristics of an experimentally validated installation. The authors consider the main sources of additive noise and their impact on the speed of reading and recording density. They empirically obtained a preliminary assessment of the impact on reliability of inter-symbol interference registration information.

Method of calculating a thermal lens
# 06, June 2012
DOI: 10.7463/0612.0445463
S.V. Bodrov
The author describes a method of calculation for a high-aperture two-lens thermal imager. The method includes overall calculation, taking into account the finite thickness of the lens and the calculation of third-order aberrations. The method provides the initial version of the lens which has no spherical aberration and meridional coma. The final point of the calculation is optimization of the initial system. The efficiency of the method is proved by the example of lens synthesis.
