BEST Business School Alliance holds Symposium
03.06.2012 China’s Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, Japan’s Hitotsubashi Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy and Korea’s Seoul National University’s College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Business cemented relations at the first BEST alliance symposium. At the event, the schools shared academic information and methods of research collaboration. Joint economic development research projects were also launched, exploring the economic changes which took during place last decade. The BEST Alliance was established in January 2011 after the Trilateral Cooperation Vision 2020 in 2010 to encourage educational cooperation between the schools. BEST, an acronym of Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo, embodies the universities aspiration to become the ‘best’ in their fields. The alliance of three major economic players in Asia also has global implications. Hyuk Choe, dean of the College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Business in Seoul believes that the alliance acts as a platform to strengthen the relationship between the countries. Compared with the West, where employees gain work experience before embarking on an MBA program and then enter a managerial position, Asian companies provide internal training and promotion. Traditional enterprises in Japan, for example, uphold life-long employment. Hiroshi Kanno, dean of Hitostubashi ICS believes that a number of global models co-exist and that many new models originate from Asia. The three business schools will also establish the One Asia Executive Program, a one- year preparation course for CEO candidates from China, Korea and Japan. Source: China Economic Review /MBA News |
