A brief overview of the main achievements of Semen Isidorovich Kataeva, Honored Scientist of the RSFSR, the creator of the national television school, the author of over 200 publications and inventions, including a prototype iconoscope, high vacuum receiving electronic tubes, ways to change the screen brightness by using exposure to light polarization, as well as the transmission system of clear television image on a narrowband channel and the television standard with decomposition at 625 lines.
